Collection of data

When you access our websites, we automatically collect data of a general nature. This data (server log files) includes, for example, the type of your browser, your operating system, the domain name of your internet provider and other similar general data. This data is entirely non-personal and is used to display the websites correctly to you; it is requested every time the internet is used. The completely anonymous data is evaluated statistically in order to improve our service for you.

Registration on our website

When registering for specific offers, we ask for some personal data such as name, address, contact, telephone number or email address. Registered users can access certain additional services. Registered users have the option to change or have deleted all personal data provided at any time. You can also request the data we have stored about you at any time. Unless there is a legal retention period for the data, it can be changed or deleted. Please contact us via our contact page for this.

Paid services

If you make use of paid services, additional data may be required, including details of the method of payment. The use of the latest technology and encryption procedures ensures comprehensive protection of your data.

Blog comments

If you leave comments in our blog, in addition to the text itself we also store information about the time of creation and your user name. In this way we guarantee the security of our blog; unlawful contributions by users can be traced.

Newsletter

If you sign up for our newsletter, we use the registration data exclusively for the newsletter service. Registered users may be contacted by us in order to be informed about changes, updates or other relevant information. A valid email address must be provided when registering. The so-called „double opt-in“ procedure is used to check that the registrant and the email match. You have the right to have your data for the newsletter service deleted at any time. Our newsletters contain a link to unsubscribe. You can also unsubscribe on the website or inform us of your wish via our contact page.

Contact form

If you contact us via our contact page or send us an email, the relevant data is stored for processing.

Deletion or blocking of data

Your personal data is only stored for as long as is absolutely necessary to provide the stated services and as required by law. After these periods have expired, the personal data of users is routinely blocked or deleted.

Google Analytics

Our website uses Google Analytics, the web analytics service of Google Inc. („Google“). Google Analytics uses „cookies“, small text files that are stored on your computer and that store data about the use of our website. The data generated by the cookie about your use of our website is transmitted to and stored on a Google server in the USA. As IP anonymisation is activated on our websites, your IP address is shortened by Google. This applies to member states of the European Union and other states party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area. In rare cases, the full IP address may be transmitted to a Google server in the USA and shortened there. Google uses this information to evaluate your use of our website, to compile reports on website activity for us and to gather further statistical data. Your IP address is never merged with other data held by Google. The use of cookies can be prohibited via a setting in your browser; however, this may impair the functionality of our website. By means of a special add-on for your browser, you can deactivate the collection of data by Google Analytics.

Google Remarketing

Our website uses the Google Remarketing function, which serves to show individual advertising to visitors of websites belonging to the Google advertising network. A „cookie“ is stored in your browser that allows you to be recognised when you visit a website belonging to the Google advertising network. You may then be presented with advertising related to your visit to other websites that also use the Google Remarketing function. Google does not store any individual data in the process. At http://www.google.com/settings/ads you have the option to deactivate the Google Remarketing function. The use of cookies for individual advertising can also be switched off; this link describes how: http://www.networkadvertising.org/managing/opt_out.asp

Piwik

Our website uses Piwik, an open-source software that collects data from visitors for statistical purposes. This is done via „cookies“. The data collected in this way is stored on a server; all IP addresses are anonymised immediately after processing and before storage. You can configure the use of cookies via your browser settings. These settings may affect the correct functioning of our website. You can also determine whether a web analytics cookie may be stored in your web browser, allowing the operator of the respective website to collect data for statistical purposes.

Social plugins

On our websites we use social plugins from the providers listed below. Plugins are marked with the corresponding logo. The service operator may, under certain circumstances, receive information and personal data of our visitors through such plugins. A 2-click solution installed by us prevents the non-obvious collection and transmission of data to the service provider. Only when a social plugin is activated by you with a click is the collection of information and its transmission to the service provider triggered. What data such a plugin collects once it has been activated, and how this data is subsequently used, is beyond our control. In some cases, direct connections to the services of the respective provider are established and the IP address and specific usage information may be collected and used in the process. Service providers may also attempt to store cookies on your computer. You can find out how these cookies work in the privacy notices of the respective provider. You may be identified by Facebook as a visitor if you are currently logged in to your Facebook account. Social media buttons of the following companies are embedded on our website: Google Plus/Google Inc. (1600 Amphitheatre Parkway – Mountain View – CA 94043 – USA)

Cookies

Our website uses „cookies“. Cookies are text files that are transferred from the server of a website to your computer. Certain data such as IP address, browser, operating system and internet connection are transmitted in the process. Cookies do not start programs and do not transmit viruses. The information collected by cookies serves to make navigation easier for you and to optimise the display of our websites. Data collected by us is never passed on to third parties or linked to personal data without your consent. The use of cookies can be prevented via settings in your browser. In the help section of your internet browser you will find information on how to change these settings. Individual functions of our website may not work correctly if the use of cookies is deactivated.

Scalable central measurement procedure

For the collection of statistical metrics about the use of our services, we use the „Scalable Central Measurement Procedure“ (SZM) of INFOnline GmbH (http://www.infonline.de). This procedure collects anonymous measurement values. To recognise computer systems, the SZM reach measurement uses either a cookie with the identifier „ioam.de“ or „ivwbox.de“, a local storage object, or a signature created from various pieces of transmitted information from your web browser. IP addresses are used in anonymised form only. Data protection is always taken into account in the reach measurement. It statistically determines the intensity of use and the number of users of a website. Individual users are not identified; identity always remains protected. The system does not send any advertising. For web offerings that belong to the Informationsgemeinschaft zur Feststellung der Verbreitung von Werbeträgern e.V. (IVW – http://www.ivw.eu) or that participate in the „Internet Facts“ study of the Arbeitsgemeinschaft Online-Forschung e.V. (AGOF – www.agof.de), the usage statistics are published monthly by AGOF, the Arbeitsgemeinschaft Media-Analyse e.V. (ag.ma – www.agma-mmc.de) and IVW, and can be viewed at http://www.agof.de, http://www.agma-mmc.de and http://www.ivw.eu. The IVW regularly checks the SZM procedure with regard to compliant and data-protection-conform use, and the measurement data is published. The website of INFOnline GmbH (https://www.infonline.de), the data protection website of AGOF (http://www.agof.de/datenschutz) and the data protection website of IVW (http://www.ivw.eu) provide detailed information about the SZM procedure. If you do not agree to the data processing by the SZM, you can express this via the following links: http://optout.ioam.de and http://optout.ivwbox.de

Google AdWords

Our website uses Google conversion tracking. If you have reached our website by clicking on a Google ad, Google AdWords stores a conversion tracking cookie on your computer. After 30 days these cookies expire; website visitors are not identified in the process. Within the 30-day window, we and Google can determine that the user initially clicked on the ad to land on our page. Google AdWords cookies are customer-specific and cannot be tracked across the websites of AdWords customers. The information collected with conversion cookies is used to create conversion statistics for AdWords customers who use conversion tracking. Customers thereby learn how many users used an ad to visit their page. No personal data of users is transmitted in the process. Anyone who does not wish to participate in tracking can specify this in their browser settings. The automatic setting of cookies can be deactivated in general, or you can set your browser so that cookies from googleleadservices.com are always blocked. Opt-out cookies must not be deleted if you wish to refuse the recording of measurement data. If you delete the cookies in your browser, all opt-out cookies must be set again.

Information, correction, blocking, deletion and objection

You can request information about the data we have stored about you at any time. This data can also be corrected, blocked or – provided the prescribed periods of data storage for business processing have expired – deleted. Our data protection officer will assist you with all relevant questions. Their contact details can be found below. Blocked data is kept in a special blocking file for control purposes. Once the statutory archiving obligation has expired, you can also request the deletion of the data. Within the archiving obligation, we can block your data on request. Changes to or revocation of consent can be made by notifying us. This is also possible for future actions.

Changes to the privacy provisions

Our privacy policy may be adapted at irregular intervals so that it complies with current legal requirements or in order to implement changes to our services, e.g. when adding new offers. The new privacy policy then automatically applies to your next visit.
